Hello flower friends,
Earlier this year, I had knee replacement surgery, and with this significant change, I had to reduce fieldwork and events. Nevertheless, Fenimore & Rutland brought a little bit of everything this year: peony deliveries, the start of the Dahlia CSA, wedding flowers, and plenty of behind-the-scenes planning.
From Peonies to Dahlias
We started the season with peony shares! I love sharing these lush late-spring flowers with our customers.
As the season moved along, the Dahlia CSA got underway. We all love dahlias and bring their own kind of beauty to the field, with new colors and forms to discover as summer unfolds.
Tara, my field hand for the last two years, has been a great help while I hobbled around the growing area. I also had extra hands for wedding setup- this all made the year bearable.
Event Florals
From summer to fall, I also created wedding and event flowers. It’s a privilege to help bring flowers into a day that means so much to a couple and their families.
Late summer brought more conversations and planning for upcoming celebrations, too. Wedding flowers start long before the event day—with listening, designing, and thinking through the details that will make each arrangement feel personal.
Looking ahead to 2027
The next growing season is already on my mind. 2027 Peony Shares and the 2027 Spring CSA are listed in the shop:
Thank you for being part of Fenimore & Rutland’s season—whether you joined a share, ordered flowers, celebrated with our designs, or followed along. Your support makes this work possible.
With gratitude,
Marly
